WHO WE ARE
The Fauldhouse and Breich Valley Community Development Trust (F&BV CDT) is a community led and community driven organisation, established in 2006 by local residents who wanted to see their villages improved and regenerated. The overall aim of F&BV CDT is to secure resources and assets and to catalyse projects for the benefit of all residents.
There are hundreds of Community Development Trusts across Scotland and the UK, and we are a member of the umbrella organisation – Development Trust Association Scotland. We are a registered charity and also now a full member of Social Enterprise Scotland. We are pleased to say we are a Scottish Living Wage Employer and a No Zero Employer (Gold Award)
We are governed by a voluntary Board of Directors who are all local residents. The Trust currently has nine staff members – F&BV CDT Manager, Eastfield Development Centre Manager, F&BV CDT Office Manager, F&BV CDT Communications and Events Coordinator, Development Worker, Sessional Youth Worker, Sessional Resource Assistant and The Hub and Eastfield Development Centre Cleaners. We also have a number of volunteers who regularly work with F&BV CDT projects.

WHERE WE ARE

Fauldhouse is a warm and welcoming community where people want to stay or return to.
The village has a rural location, it grew around its rich mining resources and has its own distinctive micro climate. However, the industrial history of Fauldhouse has left many environmental challenges. Fauldhouse’s location and poor transport links mean that villagers who do not have their own transport have limited employment opportunities and are isolated from resources and facilities that most residents of West Lothian benefit from.
Fauldhouse’s population of just under 5,000 people is made up of 19% aged 0 to 15 years, 63% of working age and 18% of pension age. Fauldhouse does suffer from a number of issues within its community, but its location and history have also fostered a strong identity as well as an attitude of self help and local action and the village boasts a healthy network of voluntary and community groups.
The Hub, 10 Main Street, Fauldhouse and Eastfield Development Centre, 2 Eastfield Road, Fauldhouse are the bases for current and future F&BV CDT projects and activities.
The buildings provide direct, local access to services and resources for local people. Our groups, projects and initiatives are formulated in partnership with the individual, family and community in mind. We are led by the community, and are committed to our ethos of being open and accessible to everyone.
