Highlighted below are a selection of recent and current F&BV CDT Projects and Initiatives

Cycling Without Age Fauldhouse

The electric powered Trishaw is housed behind The Hub building in a purpose-built secure area. The Trishaw is piloted by trained volunteers, and it enables those who are isolated, lonely, disabled, elderly, to get out into the community, take in some fresh air and meet with others. To book a ride for someone you know, please contact The Hub on 01501 773 699

Small Grants Fund

Constituted community groups and organisations, with their own bank accounts, operating within 10km of the RES Group Tormywheel Windfarm Development, can apply to F&BV CDT for funds between £250 and £2,000. The funds are easy to access, and they could provide much needed support for local groups and projects.

Fauldhouse Mining Tribute

This project was led by F&BV CDT and supported by West Lothian Council. The tribute stands in the centre of the village and celebrates the community’s long mining history. The completed sculpture, in consultation with the local community, was conceived by public artists; sculptor Ailsa Magnus and drawn by artist Billy Caulfield. It is a fitting tribute to the miners and all those from the community who worked in the mining industry.

Village Improvements including

Clean up of War Memorial, benches and seated areas and a wide range of local environmental initiatives and projects.

Falla Hill Forest and Ponds project

F&BV CDT has taken the lead, with local volunteers and partners to see improvements to the Falla Hill Forest and Ponds area. F&BV CDT aim to see the forest made accessible and the area enhanced so that local people, and those visiting the area will be attracted to the forest for recreation, health, and leisure based activities. This would include improving the habitat for wildlife, opening the ponds for fishing and clearing paths and putting in seated areas. Disabled access is also a priority for the area.

Partnerships and representation

As well as the partners listed here, F&BV CDT is also represented on a range of key stakeholder and decision making groups and partnerships. This includes, user representative of the NHS Lothian Integration Joint Board (IJB), committee member St John’s Hospital Stakeholder Group, vice chair Rural Community Led Development (RCLD), committee member Fauldhouse Anti Social Behaviour Group, Fauldhouse Community Youth Target, Fauldhouse Regeneration Group and the Climate Action Network.
